Founded in 1994, La Bisonnière is a business located in Saint-Prosper-de-Champlain, in the heart of the Mauricie region, halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. The farm proposes the discovery of bison, adventure and the pleasure of tasting a high-end quality product, in a unique family atmosphere that will brighten your day. The farm offers the opportunity to taste the bison meat and take a guided tour (upon reservation) in the middle of a herd of bison in a very safe way. We also have a counter where you will be able to purchase our bison products.
Several rooms are available for group bookings (visits and meals, office parties, receptions, special events, etc.).
The bison in America
More than a century ago, the bison was very present on our great prairies. It was an important source of sustenance in the lives of Native Americans, as they used everything from the bison. But when the white man settled in America, the bison was an obstacle. That’s why this animal has been hunted so much, as much to recover meat and skin as for pleasure. One of the ways of eliminating the bison was to lead the herd to a cliff and, given its wild and nervous instinct, the bison saw a way out. This is what you will find in the lobby of La Bisonnière. Part of our history in a warm decor.
